@ work

Work's been hell this whole time with the COVID-19 pandemic. We're lucky, however. So many people out there have no work, while UPS, on the other hand, have more than ever. Since we're considered an essential service, and now people are in self-quarantine, they're ordering online now more than ever. We've been pulling 12-hour shifts most days, and we've even had to come to work the past two Saturdays. It's tiring, hell yes, of course it is, but at least we have a steady paycheck, when many out there have no incoming source of income. But, well, we're not as young as we used to be, and our body has had trouble keeping up. Back in the Trancasa days, thirteen years back, we worked six day workweeks, thirteen hour shifts. We loaded trailers and would end up exhausted and sweaty, but otherwise fine. Now our joints are giving out; we've taken to wearing a knee brace on our right knee because it feels tight most days, and sometimes just feels like it wants to give out. And we haven't even gotten injured at work or anything. We just woke up one day like that, with a swollen, squishy bump to the right of our kneecap. We're old. :(

Anyhow, we were called in early to work today again, and as we were setting up, I saw Old Man Ninja wince as we climbed the steps to our workstation. "Your leg hurts?" Sal asked, to which Ninja sighed and nodded, but it's also nothing new. Jack instantly became worried, and began wailing softly, "The leg hurts! Our leg hurts!"
Ninja turned to look at him and frowned, "Dawg, you don't even have any legs. Quit exaggeratin'."
Jack looked at our brother woefully. "Your leg hurts?"
"A little bit, yeah."
"The leg hurts! Your leg hurts!"
"Dawg, we're gon' be alrigh', shit!"

After that, we got way too busy to pay attention to either our knee or the space squid. Things are finally slowing down a bit, but I know it'll be a brief respite. Anyhow, I think I'm gonna make us sit down for a bit and fill out ODC labels. Gives us an excuse to rest the old knee a bit.
